Last week I was absolutely obnoxious! Now this is not an energy I often embrace, but there I was, doing and being it to the best of my ability. I had gone to t-mobile to have my phone fixed only to find no extra holiday staff and a long wait. I started pacing. I started glaring, even making comments. While others waited patiently I was walking around and around the store, being the energy of “this is NOT OK and needs to change!” Fortunately I also started questions.. What is the value of being and doing this? What will this create? One thing I noticed was that I really had no point of view about it. I was being obnoxious without judging it, in fact there really wasn’t any judgment in my universe, and my barriers were down. I also noticed that people were being extra nice to me. Some customers being served were apologizing and trying to help out. Others seemed very comfortable asking questions about what time it was or what phone I had. Now that was a surprise as I had expected everyone to be in resistance and reaction to me. I’ve been obnoxious before and it created different results. As I continued asking questions, I realized I had always done it from either the energy of self-righteousness or the energy of pathetic. When I was being the energy of self-righteous, which is superiority, the other customers were more the energy of “Who do you think you are? I’m just as deserving as you!” When I was acting obnoxious from the energy of pathetic, people just wanted to stomp on me. Wow! It was really not about what I was doing that created, it was all about the energy I was embodying. Finally, after an hour, it was my turn. The sales clerk quickly and cheerfully fixed my phone. I left happy and with a great sense of lightness. As I was getting into my car it occurred to me that by the end of the hour I was in the store, there was less of a sense of separation amongst everyone there. Could this be the result of what Gary Douglas and Dr Dain Heer talk about? Just being us, with no judgment, can change everyone and everything around us, regardless of what we are doing? Is this what the energy of aggressive presence can create? What if you took the judgment out of everything you did? What if you went through your life with no barriers? What if you were willing to be aggressively present? Might that change everyone and everything around you? And could it add a more lightness and joy to your day? – Marilyn Bradford Would you like to receive my regular newsletter with blog updates, class news and a free gift? Register HERE!!
