Paquiliztli: The Place of Happiness with Dr. Sara Alfaro

In this episode, we're joined by Dr. Sara Alfaro, a medical doctor in El Salvador who has taken some fascinating left turns in her career. After training in traditional medicine, Sara discovered alternative therapies like acupuncture, homeopathy, and ozone therapy. This led to pushback from the medical community, but she persisted in integrating these holistic approaches.

Sara also shares about an ambitious project she and her family embarked on during the pandemic - planting 25,000 mahogany trees on a 20-acre farm they call "Paquilistli," which means "the place of happiness" in the ancient Nahuatl language of Central America. She describes the joyful process of nurturing these trees and how the forest has become a healing sanctuary.

We also discuss Sara's shift in mindset, from trying to "fix" patients to simply offering options and allowing them to choose their own path. This has been incredibly freeing for her, both professionally and personally.
